Are there any age restrictions for tanning?
Yes, there are age restrictions for tanning in Florida. Florida law requires that minors under 14 years old be accompanied by a parent or guardian when using a tanning bed. Minors between the ages of 14 and 18 must have written consent from a parent or guardian.
*Florida Statute 381.89 regulates tanning facilities in the state.
Should I use a tanning lotion?
Yes, you should definitely use tanning lotion in a tanning bed! Tanning lotion is a skin care product that helps protect and nourish your skin, which is the largest organ in your body. These lotions not only provide essential vitamins, nutrients, and moisture, but they can also boost your tanning potential by 60-70%! Why spend more time tanning when the right products can give you better color, faster? We're here to help you choose the best product to quickly reach your tanning goals.
Can I use outdoor tanning lotions and oils for indoor tanning?
Outdoor tanning products are made to address the specific needs of tanning outdoors (uncontrolled conditions). These products can cause a film on tanning bed acrylics and actually inhibit your body from tanning. Outdoor tanning products are NOT allowed in our salon.
Can I tan with tattoos?
The answer really depends on the tattoo itself—there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Factors like the age, size, color, detail, and location of your tattoo all play a role in how it reacts to UV exposure. That said, there are two things we can agree on: tattoos are incredibly common now, and a bit of common sense goes a long way when it comes to sun and UV exposure.
If you’re concerned about tanning your tattoo, play it safe—cover it when exposed to direct sunlight or UV rays, whether you’re inside or outdoors. And remember, "When in doubt, sunblock it out." Apply sunscreen daily, especially on your tattoos. If your tattoos are fresh, follow the aftercare instructions from your artist, as they usually recommend staying out of direct UV light for a certain period of time.
Lastly, always keep your skin hydrated and moisturized. Most experts agree that this helps preserve the vibrancy and longevity of your tattoo’s design.
Can I still tan if I’m on medication?
Some medications can cause a reaction to UV light. Check with your physician or pharmacist if you have any questions about your particular prescription.
What the heck is RED LIGHT?
Red light at 633nm is visible to the naked eye and offers a range of benefits for both skin health and overall wellness. Not only does it boost cell reproduction, but it also stimulates fibroblasts, which are essential for producing collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid—key components for firm, youthful, and hydrated skin. This process helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while improving skin elasticity and texture.
Additionally, red light therapy increases blood circulation, promoting better wound healing by enhancing oxygen delivery and nutrient flow to cells. This improved circulation supports faster recovery from injuries and reduces inflammation. It’s also known to help with conditions like acne, scarring, and even some signs of aging by encouraging healthier skin regeneration and overall tissue repair. Whether you're looking to improve skin appearance, speed up recovery, or simply boost your skin’s natural radiance, red light therapy is a powerful, non-invasive solution.
